Batchbook CRM - The History
Humble Beginnings
The original Batchbook offices were on a picnic table in my backyard. This photograph pretty much sums up our lives back then – laptops, coffee, baby bottles, bagels and bug spray.

Our original logo. Get it? A computer that is a book? We affectionately named her “Flippy”, but fear not, she had no middle finger.
Entrepreneurial Milestones
DEMO Fall 2007The beta version of the original Batchbook – launched at the DEMO Fall 2007 Conference in San Diego. She was written up in Inc. and PC Mag.
SBBuzz Twitter chat
We launched our Small Business Twitter chat SBBuzz in February 2009. Winter is a productive time in New England. Nothing else to do but sit around a computer and launch cool stuff. And watch Super Bowls.
SXSW and the Small Business WebYes, we were at SXSW back when Twitter was new and Jeff Bezos was an attendee, not the richest guy in the history of the universe. We launched the Small Business Web (now the Cloud Software Association) along with our SaaS drinking buddies from MailChimp, Freshbooks, Shoeboxed, and Outright. Entrepreneur magazine called it brilliant. Blush.
The Batchhaus co-working spaceWe opened up our oice space to invite local artists, writers, geeks and entrepreneurs in for some free coffee and WiFi. We met some great folks and even hired a few.
Virtual Team
While we loved the waffle parties and co-working visitors at the Batchhaus oice space, we were finding ourselves spread farther and wider geographically. We moved to a completely virtual business a few years ago and have been working with other virtual businesses to build a culture and processes that work for virtual teams.
What’s Coming Next? What I said in the original launch post still holds true today, “We are committing ourselves and our company to the long term goal of continually developing and improving the products our users rely on to run their businesses.”
We are humbled and honored that so many small businesses have entrusted their customer relationships to our technology and we will continue to develop Batchbook (and other products) to help small businesses stay connected to their customers while growing their business.
We are determinedly small, spunky and braving new worlds and new technologies. And we are always looking for more shades of blue.
